Summer travels, part I

We made our annual trip to Pittsburgh in mid-July to visit some extended family. It was a fun trip - we got to spend some time with Grandma Sember and my dad's family at the Delfine Family Reunion. It was a great trip but extremely hot and too short!

After the picnic, on our trip back home, we made a small detour and drove to Cincinnati for the day. Kyle and I took Evan to the Newport Aquarium to see the amazing creatures they showcase. Evan was a bit unsure of the fish and turtles but he certainly liked the amazon exhibit where we walked through a bird enclosure. The birds could eat out of your hand, although we didn't attempt to get Evan to do this.

He also loved the frogs - both the ones he could climb on and the ones he saw through the glass!

After, we walked around the area, it is called Newport on the Levee. It's a nice little area filled with shops, restaurants and the aquarium. It's a fun place to spend an afternoon. I think the best part of Evan's day was the ice cream!

Before heading home we decided to make the drive to the north side of the city to Jungle Jim's. This is an amazing grocery store where you could get lost for hours! We bought a few things but not much since we still had to make the 2 hour drive home and figured many of the things we wanted to buy might not make it home in the best condition. Quite an experience and a definate must to stop at if you are in the area.
