Pictures

We went on Halloween to get some pictures taken of Evan and a couple family shots too. Here is the link if you want to see the pictures - you will need to copy and paste into your browser - I can't figure out how to get the link to work at the moment. I personally love #10! ;)

Enjoy!

Scardy Cats

Movies

So it's been quite a while since we've posted on here. This video was from September. I thought it was pretty funny. Sorry about the quality of the video - I can't figure out a better way to load this. Enjoy!

Extreme Makeover

We've been working on our dining room for way too long....but it's finally finished!!  When we moved in 3 years ago, the dining room (among other rooms) was hideous!  The previous owners had removed wall paper under the chair rail (which was way too high up on the wall) and totally destroyed the walls.  They dinged up and took chunks out of the walls and didn't repair but instead painted over it with a dark red paint that had sand in it to add texture to the walls, in the hopes of covering the imperfections.  It looked awful.  So between removing the wall paper that still existed, smoothing all the walls, moving the chair rail to a normal (lower) height, and adding crown molding and trim in addition to paint - it took us a while to complete it.  To give us credit, the room was basically done before Evan was born but once he came along, finishing the touch up work was low on the priority totem pole.  But it's now complete and I love it!  My husband is so handy!

See what you think - the best "before" pictures were accidentially deleted so this is the only one I could find.
And after...

Nashville Vacation

We took a family vacation to Nashville about a week ago - IN not TN.  Even though it's not a far away place, Brown County is a very scenic place to visit.  We enjoyed spending time with the family, good food, and good sights.  It wasn't a long trip, but nice enough to get away for a few days to relax.
Evan enjoyed his time with his cousin, Mason - although Evan loved stealing Mason's toys the most!
I think Mason found his true calling....

Evan decided he is taking his life in a different direction...  :)

They played so hard!

Movin' & Shakin'

The same day Evan decided he would crawl, he also decided to pull himself up to stand. What happened to my little baby?!?

Crawling is so tiring!!

Car rides and reunions

We took a trip this weekend back to Pittsburgh to see lots and lots of family. We started off the weekend visiting with Great Grandma Sember. Evan loves his Great Grandma - he even tried to show her some of his new tricks he's working on.

We also got to see my Dad's side of the family at the annual Delfine Family Reunion. This is a big family and we always have a good time when we go. We got to visit with so many relatives that we haven't seen in a very long time!
It was a great weekend!

6 month update

Evan had his 6 month check up yesterday and while I'm not really surprised at his growth, it still amazes me what a big boy he is! He weighed in at 18 lbs 15 oz! And he is 28 inches long. Needless to say, he's not going to be in his infant car seat much longer!

Happy Birthday......

...America! Happy 4th of July! Yes, it was my birthday too over the weekend, but I'm not as excited to celebrate that. I decided a few years ago that I am not having "birthdays" but rather "anniversarys". Each year I have an anniversary of my 25th birthday. I don't know why 25 was such a good number to choose but that's what I went with. So this was my 5th anniversary. According to traditional anniversary gifts, the 5th year gift is wood. However the modern gift is silverware. I like this idea better and I think I could buy myself some silver earrings that I can wear! Like that?! This fuels my shopping need that has been driving me crazy lately (probably because I can't shop that I want to).

Kyle and I celebrated my "milestone" anniversary - with a very nice dinner at The Oceanaire (thanks to my brother Frank for giving us an awesome dinner and thanks to Jennifer for the cupcakes and babysitting!!). The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing at home, enjoying a day off work and seeing friends and family. The weekends always seem to go by too fast now!

Evan hit the 6 month mark over the weekend also. It's so exciting to see him growing and developing. He's in the beginning stages of crawling, which is too cute to watch. He also cut his first teeth over the weekend too - which isn't fun for any of us! I feel bad for the little guy - it can't feel good! However, he's eating solid foods now and so far we haven't found a food he won't eat. He's going to be our little eating machine!

Hope you all had a great holiday weekend!!

Visit to Grandma's house

I almost forgot to post about our trip to Pittsburgh over Memorial Day weekend! My mom, Evan, Jennifer, Mason and I took a trip to see Grandma Sember so she could meet her 2 great-grandsons. The car ride was good which was a relief and both boys enjoyed spending time with their great-grandma! They also got to meet my cousins Stephanie and John as well as Aunt Sharon and Uncle John. Stephanie is expecting her first son in September and we are so excited to have another addition to the family! I can't wait to take Evan out to meet his new cousin and visit his extended family again!

Pool time!

Evan had his first swim in the pool this weekend. Well, ok, he didn't really swim in the pool but rather floated in his super cool baby raft. He loved it - he just kicked his legs the whole time he was in the water. I can't wait to take him swimming more often now!

Also, he turned 5 months old this past friday too. I think once he hits the 6 month mark I might just have to stop counting. I don't want him to get any older. I love this age!

Fun family visit

We had a great weekend this weekend but I really need to rest now! Our niece and nephew - Mercedes and Alec, along with our sister-n-law, Becky, came to visit this weekend. We had a lot of fun but realized what energy it takes to keep up with a 6 and 11 year old. We are all tuckered out and they were only here for 2 days. Even Evan was so tired tonight! Kyle's brother, Chad, is deployed to Iraq right now so Becky is "running the show" until he comes home. I don't know how she does it. These kids have so much energy and can really wear you out! It was great to see them and we all hope it's not too long before we can see them again!
We had a super fun weekend and hope they did too!

4 months and counting...

I can't believe it's been over 4 months since Evan was born. Time flies...I know everyone says this but I really understand it now! Working full time with a child is crazy - it definitely takes some adjusting. It seems that once my Monday is over it's already Friday - which normally isn't a bad thing but it never seems like I get anything done. My house is a disaster (if you ever come over and it's clean - I probably went psycho) and my dinners lately consist of what ever we can dig up in the freezer or which box of cereal looks the best. I wouldn't trade it for the world but it's just these little things that I never thought about in my pre-baby day dreams. :)

On a side note, Evan went for his 4 month check up about a week and a half ago (that's how long it's taken me to make time to get back on here). He weighed 16 lbs 3 oz and was 26 3/4 in long. He's already getting so much of a personality. He's an observant baby - at daycare he likes to sit back and watch the other babies. I think he's figuring out how to do things. One thing he picked up from another kid at daycare is thumb sucking. He NEVER sucked his thumb until about a week ago - he learned it from one of his playmates. Contrary to his laid back behavior at daycare, at home he wants to move!

Congratulations

Thomas James was born Thursday April 30 to Natalie and Steve! We are so excited for them and know they must be elated that their little guy is here. Congrats to you both - can't wait for Evan and Thomas to be big enough to play together!

Hope everyone has a great Easter weekend!

Uncle Chad

Evan got to meet his Uncle Chad for the first time last week. He was excited and had a great time with his uncle. There's a rumor that he'll get to meet his Aunt Becky and his cousins, Alec and Mercedes, in June. We're all hoping that's not just a rumor. :)

BFF's

Evan is lucky to have his cousin Mason so close. They have a great time together!

Happy Birthday Kyle!!

Kyle's birthday was last week, but I was able to pull off a surprise party for him yesterday. He didnt suspect a thing. It was a lot of fun! We even had babies there and it was still a good time. :)

Evan and Mason with their party hats on.

Think we might have a problem here in a few years. :) (Abby Witkemper and Evan)

Evan's Big Week

Evan started daycare this week and seems to be adjusting ok. Truthfully, I think it probably was harder on me than on him. I think he's happy if someone plays with him, feeds him and changes his diaper. Here are some recent pictures of Evan:

mustache fun

Do I really need to say any more? I love my husband - he makes me laugh.
"Pirates of the Caribbean"
"Tom Sellek"
Just Kyle.... :)

So ready for spring!

I am ready to be able to take a walk outside - we've had a few nice days here that have spoiled us but I'm ready for this nice weather to not go away! I am so sick of being trapped in the house and looking for excuses to run to the store. :)
On that note, I go back to work Thursday and am looking forward to it and am dreading it at the same time. Evan's becoming so much more interactive now so it'll be hard to leave him but I also think it'll be good for him to interact with kids older than him. It's just so weird to think that he's 9 weeks old now - the time has gone by so fast! He went for his 2 month check up yesterday and he weighs 12 lbs 14 oz and was 24 1/2 in long! He's growing like a weed!

Home, finally...

We got to take Evan home Sunday afternoon. What a relief! He's still sick with his cold but he sounds better today than he did yesterday. He's starting to get some of his appetite back so hopefully we'll have our normal Evan back!

On another note, I go back to work in about 2 1/2 weeks and am dreading it and am happy about it at the same time. Why can't someone pay me to just stay home and occassionally work? I suppose I could find a job like this but then they probably wouldn't pay me what I want. :)

Another hospital stay

So I'm beginning to think Evan is going to grow up and work in a hospital! Friday I took him to the doctor for what appeared to be a cold but due his slightly high temp the doctor wanted him to go to the hospital for some blood work and "observation." Little did I know we'd be spending the weekend being "observed". His temp is back down but they want to keep him until Sunday to be sure it's not something worse than a cold. I feel so bad for the little guy - he sounds terrible with the coughing and sneezing. But at least his spirits are still good - he'll still give me a smile every once in a while. We are just crossing our fingers that all of his tests come back good tomorrow and we get to go home by lunch time. We'll keep you posted....

Evan's 6 week old pictures

We decided we couldn't wait til he was 3 months old to get good pictures so we took Evan this week to have his picture taken. They did a great job and he even smiled in 2 of them! Take a look: http://smilestore.picturepeople.com/my/images?tk=dc2436e6-b6a6-4858-b7ce-58826e585a48

Just some cute pictures....

I love this little man!

In his sunday best!

Welcome Mason Thomas Pruce!

My brother Frank and his wife Jennifer had their son, Mason Thomas, yesterday - 2/11/09 at 7:33pm. Mason weighed 8lbs 1oz and was 21 1/2 inches long! He's such a cutie!! Both mom and baby are doing great! Evan was excited to meet his cousin finally - it was such a long day for Evan that as soon as he met his cousin he fell asleep! :) We are all so excited for Jen and Frank and are so excited to have Evan and Mason grow up together!
